Unfinished pine is added as a surface layer on the tread over an edge-glued softwood core, allowing this wood stair tread to feature a clean, uniform, look that's clear of most knots and imperfections commonly found in solid yellow pine treads. The special core of this stair tread also makes it stable and resistant to warping, checking, and cupping so it's perfect for use in carpet-grade stair construction or stair remodeling, as well as for stained or painted stair tread applications.
